SHENYANG, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) — The Liaoning Provincial Ballet Competition in northeast China concluded on the evening of Aug. 14 at the Liaoning Provincial Grand Theater. The week-long competition allowed young dancers to fully showcase their talents and also evoked deep emotions among the professional jury representing the world's leading competitions. The experts were impressed by the strong foundation of Chinese ballet and predicted a great future for it.

Eldar Aliev, artistic director of the ballet troupe of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre /Russia/, previously served on the jury of ballet competitions in Prague, Seoul, New York and Beijing, and also held the post of vice-chairman of the 26th International Ballet Competition in Varna. In an interview with Xinhua News Agency, E. Aliev said that his friendship with China began 25 years ago, and it is especially noteworthy that its origins lie in the city of Shenyang /adm. capital of Liaoning Province/. Therefore, he came to the current competition with special feelings.

While serving on the jury, E. Aliev saw many outstanding ballet dancers, and the performances of the dancers of the Liaoning Province Ballet Troupe particularly delighted him.

E. Aliyev noted that the fact that the troupe has repeatedly won awards at prestigious international competitions serves as the best proof of the high skill of its artists.

Patrick de Bana, a world-renowned choreographer who was twice awarded the “Best Choreographer” prize at Russian Arts Festivals in 2012 and 2013, openly admitted that he is an old friend of the Liaoning Ballet. Patrick de Bana was invited as a choreographer to create the ballet “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” with this ballet company, which was his first collaboration with a Chinese ballet company.

“I consider the Liaoning Ballet Company to be one of the leading ballet companies in China. The male part of the troupe is especially strong here – it is a very high-level company. It has also achieved significant success on the international stage. Their tour with my production of “Notre Dame de Paris” in Vladivostok was a huge success. Therefore, I feel sincere love, deep respect and admiration for the Liaoning Ballet Company,” shared Patrick de Bana.

Viviana Durante, a world-famous ballerina, former prima ballerina of the Royal Ballet of Great Britain, American Ballet Theatre, La Scala Theatre in Milan, has repeatedly served on the jury of international competitions. According to her, this competition allowed her to see many diverse and incredibly talented artists.

“The ballet training here is also at an excellent level. I look forward with great interest to the opportunity to exchange experiences with Chinese ballet programs,” added V. Durante.
