BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) — Thirty-five laws have been drafted, 62 amendments to laws and 34 resolutions have been approved by the National People's Congress (NPC) and its Standing Committee since March 2021, Song Rui, deputy secretary-in-chief of the NPC Standing Committee, said at a press conference on Monday on China's progress in developing socialist democracy during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
The efforts made in the legislative sphere, he said, contributed to the further improvement of the legal system, which is essential for public administration, meeting the needs of people for a better life and ensuring national security.
Since March 2021, 127 bills have been submitted for public discussion, with 1.19 million comments received from more than 400,000 people, the official also said. -0-
