Moscow, August 16 /Xinhua/ — Russia respects the position of the US leadership on the need for a speedy end to hostilities in Ukraine, the Kremlin press service reported on Saturday.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the leadership of the presidential administration, the government, the State Duma, ministries and departments following the Russian-American negotiations.
The leaders of the two states discussed practically all areas of interaction, including a possible resolution of the Ukrainian crisis on a fair basis. "Of course, we had the opportunity, which we did, to talk about the genesis, about the causes of this crisis. It is the elimination of these root causes that should be the basis for the settlement," said V. Putin.
The head of state called the visit to Alaska timely and useful.
"We, of course, respect the position of the American administration, which sees the need for a speedy end to military actions. Well, we would also like this and would like to move to resolving all issues by peaceful means," said V. Putin. -0-
