BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) — China urges Japan to properly handle and rethink its history of aggression, exercise caution on historical issues such as the Yasukuni Shrine, make a final break with militarism, adhere to the path of peaceful development and win the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community with real actions, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Saturday.

He made the remarks when asked to comment on a report that Japanese politicians visited and sent offerings to the infamous Yasukuni Shrine on August 15, Remembrance Day marking Japan's unconditional surrender in World War II. -0-
