KYIV, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday on Telegram that he had a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, which was later joined by European leaders.
One of the main topics of conversation was the results of the meeting between the head of the White House and Russian President Vladimir Putin, at which they discussed ending the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict.
V. Zelensky emphasized that official Kyiv supports Washington's proposal to hold peace talks with the participation of three parties – Ukraine, the United States and Russia.
He also added that on Monday, August 18, he will meet with D. Trump in Washington to discuss the details of ending the armed conflict with Russia.
The Ukrainian leader specifically emphasized the importance of involving Europe in all stages of the peace process to reliably ensure security together with the United States.
