KYIV, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope in Telegram on Friday that the upcoming meeting of the US and Russian presidents in Alaska will pave the way for an "honest" peace in Ukraine.

V. Zelensky pointed out the need to stop hostilities, adding that Moscow must take steps in this direction.

The Ukrainian President also expressed hope that after the talks in Alaska he would be able to hold a meaningful meeting with the leaders of the United States and Russia.

Later on Friday, US and Russian Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska's largest city, Anchorage, to discuss ways to bring peace to Ukraine. –0–
