NEW DELHI, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — The death toll from heavy rain in Kishtwar district of Indian-administered Kashmir on Thursday has risen to 60.
A local official confirmed that at least 60 bodies had been recovered by Friday morning, with more than 200 people still missing. Roads and bridges were destroyed or swept away by the storm, blocking traffic in the region. Rescue teams were struggling to save victims in the disaster areas.
Heavy rainfall lashed Chositi village in Kishtwar district, about 290 km southeast of Srinagar, on Thursday afternoon. –0–
