BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Huang Shaorong, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of east China's Fujian Provincial Government, met with a Russian youth group on a sightseeing tour in the province on Tuesday.
According to the Fujian government website, Huang Shaorong warmly welcomed the group and briefly introduced to the Russians the outstanding position and unique advantages of Fujian as an important starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and a key area for the construction of the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.
She noted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era has continued to develop at a high level. At the same time, economic and trade cooperation, friendly relations between sister cities and people-to-people exchanges between Fujian Province and Russia have been steadily expanding. As this year is the China-Russia Culture Year, Huang Shaorong invited relevant Russian experts, scholars and specialists to Fujian to further expand cultural exchanges and mutual enrichment between the two sides and deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
She also expressed hope that Russian Sinologists and youth, acting as bridges and envoys of Chinese-Russian friendship, will share more with their relatives and friends what they saw and heard in Fujian, becoming disseminators of stories about this Chinese province.
As it became known, the group of 29 people includes mainly representatives of Russian artists, sinologists, and students. During their visit, they will visit Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Nanping and other places in Fujian Province, where they will take part in a nine-day cross-border excursion and educational program along the route “The Great Tea Road”. -0-
