Moscow, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) — From 2026, the purchase of foreign-made military uniforms for the Russian army will be banned, according to a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The corresponding document was published on Monday on the website of the official publication of legal acts.
According to the decree, military uniforms for servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces must be made only in Russia from January 1, 2026, and from 2027, they must be made from Russian fabrics.
The head of state ordered the government, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take additional measures to eliminate the purchase of foreign-made uniforms and, from January 1 next year, to purchase “clothing property” produced by Russian organizations whose production facilities are located in the territory of the Russian Federation. By 2027, the uniform must also be made from fabrics and knitted fabrics produced in Russia, the document says. –0–
