Baku, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on Monday released the text of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, initialed on Aug. 8 in Washington by the foreign ministers of the two countries during a meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations establishes the obligations of the parties to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of each other's international borders, and to refrain from the use of force or the threat of its use.

The document provides for the establishment of diplomatic relations, the renunciation of mutual territorial claims and interstate lawsuits, as well as a ban on the deployment of armed forces of third countries along the border.

The agreement stipulates the creation of a bilateral commission to monitor the implementation of the terms of the agreement and resolve possible disputes. In addition, the parties undertake to cooperate in the search for missing persons during armed conflicts and to develop ties in the economic, transport, humanitarian and cultural spheres.

The agreement will enter into force after completion of the necessary internal procedures and exchange of relevant documents.
