ALMATY, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed supporting China's initiative to create a Global Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Kazakh president's press service reported on Monday.

K.-Zh. Tokayev made a corresponding proposal at a meeting on the development of artificial intelligence, which was held under his chairmanship in Astana.

Touching upon the topic of other countries' activities in the areas of AI development and digitalization, the head of state noted the Chinese government's initiative to create a Global Organization for Cooperation in the Field of AI.

"The goal is to promote a multilateral approach to AI governance, reduce the digital divide, develop ethics and sustainable use of AI. I believe that China's proposal to create such an organization should be supported and that we should take part in the preparatory activities. This is in the interests of our country," said K.-Zh. Tokayev.

The Chinese government has previously proposed the creation of a Global AI Collaboration Organization, with Shanghai being considered for its headquarters. –0–
