KYIV, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held separate phone conversations with the leaders of Britain, France, Denmark, Spain and Estonia on Saturday to coordinate positions on a ceasefire in Ukraine, Zelensky said in his Telegram.

During a conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the Ukrainian leader noted that clear steps and maximum coordination of Kiev’s actions with partners are needed to end the armed conflict with the Russian Federation.

The conversation between V. Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron was devoted to discussing the current diplomatic situation. The Ukrainian leader pointed out the importance of a real cessation of hostilities in the country, as well as providing it and other European states with reliable security guarantees.

Zelensky discussed steps to establish a lasting peace with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The parties separately assessed the work that Ukraine is doing on its way to the EU.

During the conversation between V. Zelensky and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, emphasis was placed on the fact that it will be important to take into account Europe’s position in the peace negotiations.
