Moscow, August 9 /Xinhua/ — The Russian Foreign Ministry confirms that it will revoke its consent for the operation of the Consulate General of Poland in Kaliningrad from August 29, 2025. This was reported by TASS, citing the Director of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Klimov.

According to A. Klimov, the decision to close the Polish Consulate General in Kaliningrad was communicated to the Polish side on July 11. This was a response to the reduction of the Russian diplomatic presence in this country under a far-fetched pretext and the withdrawal by the Polish authorities of consent for the functioning of the Russian Consulate General in Krakow, he added.

A. Klimov noted that the closure of the Russian consular office in Krakow has led to an increase in the workload of the employees of the consular department of the Russian embassy in Poland and the consulate general in Gdansk.

According to Russian media reports, the Russian Consulate General in Krakow ceased operations on June 27. –0–
