Female drivers have been successfully working in the Moscow metro for 2 years now
For two years now, women have been successfully driving trains on the Nekrasovskaya Line of the Moscow Metro. The return of women to the profession of a driver became possible in January 2021, and today they drive trains not only on the Nekrasovskaya, but also on the Filevskaya and Sokolnicheskaya lines.
"In 2020, with the participation of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, we achieved the return of women to the profession of electric train drivers. Today, about 140 female drivers and their assistants operate trains on 3 metro lines. More than 20% of them work on the Nekrasovskaya line," said Deputy Moscow Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov.
The return of women to the driver profession has become an important step in ensuring equal opportunities and expanding professional horizons for women in the Moscow transport industry.
