BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — The National Disaster Prevention and Relief Commission on Wednesday activated a Level 4 emergency response over heavy rains and floods in south China's Guangdong Province, the Ministry of Emergency Management said.
The Committee sent a working group to disaster-affected areas to lead the work to eliminate the consequences of the raging water disaster and provide the local population with basic living needs.
Since the beginning of this week, heavy rains have been falling in Guangdong Province, and the provincial meteorological service has warned of the threat of geological disasters, urban flooding and mountain torrents.
