YANGON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — A signing ceremony for projects under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund (LMCS) for 2025 was held in Myanmar's capital Naypyitaw on Tuesday, the Chinese Embassy in the country said.
The document was signed by the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar Kou Kou Kyaw.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ma Jia said the signing of the agreement on 14 projects under the 2025 SBLM Special Fund will further promote Myanmar's development in areas such as agriculture, environmental protection, science and technology, culture, education and disaster prevention.
China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Myanmar, make good use of relevant means, and promote the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future so as to bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries, she added.
Myanmar Foreign Minister and National Security and Peace Commissioner Than Swe expressed gratitude to China for its continuous support. The Myanmar government and people sincerely thank China for providing funds to share development opportunities, he said.
Since 2018, Myanmar has received eight tranches of support from the SBLM fund to implement 132 projects, ranking first among Mekong countries in terms of the number of projects approved. –0–
