BANGKOK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Acting Prime Minister of Thailand Phumtham Vechayachai has instructed relevant departments to prepare legal documents to file criminal and civil lawsuits against Cambodia at the domestic and international levels, Thirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, said on Tuesday.

The order was given at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, he said. The government intends to take legal action against Cambodia, which used military force to violate Thailand's sovereignty, causing significant loss of life and property among Thai civilians and military personnel.

The National Security Council of Thailand's office will lead the legal action, coordinating with other agencies, including the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Public Health, as well as the military, Thirayu Huangsap said.

The Secretary General of the State Council Office will provide legal advice on holding relevant military commanders and other persons accountable so that claims can be filed and compensation sought as soon as possible.

Thai authorities also have several domestic tasks to tackle, including clearing unexploded Cambodian ordnance, investigating unauthorized drone overflights, and helping civilians return home safely, Thirayu Huangsap said. –0–
