On August 9, Moscow will host the SUP surfing festival “Yauza Fest”, organized by the capital’s Department of Sports. The event will take place on the Academician Tupolev Embankment and will be part of the project "Summer in Moscow".
The festival will bring together about 1,500 water sports enthusiasts who will take part in a five-kilometer swim — from the Academician Tupolev Embankment to the Rubtsov Bridge and back. Boards can be rented for free, so everyone can join the celebration regardless of their level of training.
The event will start at 09:00 with a mass SUP yoga class. About 100 participants, under the guidance of a professional instructor, will take part in a meditative practice right on the water. Then guests will enjoy the Open Moscow Sports Cup — a team competition for experienced riders with a prize fund.
The day will culminate in a colorful carnival swim with a costume contest and valuable prizes. Participants will compete for victory in six nominations: "The Brightest Girl of the Festival", "The Brightest Man of the Festival", "The Best Thematic Costume", "The Most Complex Outfit", "The Most Original Costume" and "The Most Creative Couples".
In addition to the sports program, there is an entertainment part with a host, competitions and various events on land. Everyone will be provided with a starter kit, which will make the holiday even more comfortable and memorable.
