WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that two nuclear submarines have arrived "where they are supposed to be," two days after he ordered their deployment.
“I have already made a statement, and the answer is: they are in the region… where they should be,” the American president said.
D. Trump said on his social network Truth Social on Friday that he ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines “in the appropriate regions” after his spat with Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president and deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.
On July 28, Trump shortened the time given to Moscow to end the conflict with Ukraine to “10 or 12 days” from the original 50-day deadline, citing frustration with Moscow’s “unwillingness to compromise.”
Later that day, Medvedev said Trump was playing a “game of ultimatums” with Russia, calling his threat “a step toward war… with his own country.” –0–
