Dushanbe, April 1 (Xinhua) — The spring conscription of citizens into the armed forces began in Tajikistan on April 1, the country's Ministry of Defense announced.

Conscription is carried out based on a decree issued by the President of Tajikistan on February 28, 2026. According to the decree, male citizens born between 1999 and 2008 are called up for military service. Elderly citizens who are not eligible for a deferment or exemption from military service are also subject to conscription.

The campaign will last until the end of May and will cover all regions of the country.

Spring and autumn conscriptions are held annually in Tajikistan. Authorities continue to improve conditions of service, which is helping to increase the number of young people volunteering.
