BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) — China expresses serious concern over Japan's deployment of long-range missiles in Kumamoto and Shizuoka prefectures, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday.
Long-range missiles with second-strike capability have reportedly been deployed for the first time at two Japan Self-Defense Forces bases.
"Under the pretext of self-defense with the possibility of retaliation, Japan is deploying offensive weapons, going far beyond the confines of 'self-defense' and its purely defense-oriented policy," Mao Ning said at a regular departmental press conference, adding that Japan's "new militarism" threatens regional peace and stability, and therefore the international community must remain highly vigilant. -0-
