Beijing, March 31 (Xinhua) — By 2028, the value of industries that form the core of China's Internet of Things (IoT) industry should reach at least 3.5 trillion yuan (approximately $505.8 billion). This figure is included in an action plan jointly developed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other Chinese agencies.
According to the plan, the country aims to develop or revise more than 50 advanced and applicable standards by 2028 and increase the number of IoT connections to 10 billion.
The Internet of Things enables ubiquitous intelligent interaction between people, machines, and objects through sensor technologies and communication networks, connecting the digital and physical worlds.
To stimulate the innovative development of the IoT industry, the action plan includes measures in five main areas: promoting innovation in IoT devices and their modernization, improving the efficiency of IoT platform services, developing IoT application scenarios, strengthening the foundation of the IoT network, and creating a reliable ecosystem for the development of the IoT industry.
By 2028, according to the plan, the IoT market will experience an influx of new technologies, products, and business models, as well as expanded innovative potential. Breakthroughs will be achieved in key technologies such as sensing, networking and communications, data processing, and security, significantly increasing the intelligence of related terminals and platforms.
