BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) — Legislative exchanges are an important part of China-EU relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday.

At a regular press conference, the diplomat was asked to comment on the trip of a group of European parliamentarians to Beijing and Shanghai, scheduled for March 31 to April 2, the first such delegation in eight years.

Mao Ning announced that the delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection will begin its visit to China on March 31 at the invitation of the Legislative Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC).

“We are confident that this visit will strengthen interaction and cooperation between the legislative bodies, deepen the European Parliament’s understanding of China, and contribute to the healthy and sustainable development of China-EU relations,” the spokesperson said. -0-
