JERUSALEM/AMMAN, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — Jordan, Egypt, Germany, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), France and Spain on Friday carried out a joint airdrop operation to airdrop humanitarian aid for residents of the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that for the first time, 126 packages of humanitarian aid were airlifted to Gaza with the participation of Germany, Spain and France.
The IDF noted that it will continue to work to improve the supply of humanitarian aid to the enclave together with the international community, refuting “false claims” of a deliberate starvation of Gaza.
The Jordanian Armed Forces said in a statement that they had sent humanitarian aid, including food and baby formula, to Gaza in coordination with several international partners.
During the operation, some 57 tons of critical supplies were airlifted by aircraft from Jordan, Germany, the UAE, France and Spain, bringing the total amount of supplies delivered to Gaza since missions resumed last week to some 148 tons, the statement said.
Earlier on Friday, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces had killed 24 Palestinians in Gaza in several incidents since dawn, including five people trying to receive humanitarian aid. –0–
