Vienna, March 30 (Xinhua) — The heavy water plant in Khondab, Iran, has sustained serious damage and is no longer operational, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on social media on Sunday.
“Based on an independent analysis of satellite imagery and site information, the IAEA has confirmed that the heavy water production plant at Khondab, which Iran reported attacked on March 27, has been severely damaged and is no longer operational,” the post said.
It is noted that no declared nuclear materials are stored on the plant’s premises.
On March 27, the IAEA reported that it had received information from Iran about an attack on the heavy water production plant in Khondab, emphasizing that no radiation hazard had been identified.
The armed conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel has been ongoing since February 28.
