Ürümqi, March 29 (Xinhua) — In the first two months of 2026, 137,000 tons of fruits and vegetables were exported through the Horgos border crossing in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, up 29.3 percent year-on-year, according to Horgos Customs data.
Every day, large numbers of refrigerated trucks carrying apples, oranges, lemons, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and other fruits and vegetables pass through the China-Kazakhstan "green channel" for rapid customs clearance of agricultural products and by-products. These fruits and vegetables are then shipped to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and other countries.
According to Yu Huan, CEO of a local international trade company, the current season is peak for fruit and vegetable exports, and her company dispatches nearly 30 trucks daily with over 700 tons of fruits and vegetables. Produce harvested and cleared through customs in the morning can be delivered to markets in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the same day.
According to the Khorgos Customs Office, convenient customs clearance measures have been introduced, such as opening special windows and channels for fruit and vegetable exports, to reduce customs clearance time for vehicles carrying fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, customs clearance is carried out 24/7 to ensure the speedy completion of relevant procedures.
