HAVANA, March 28 (Xinhua) — Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Saturday condemned the United States for "outright lies" over its fuel blockade of the island.
B. Rodriguez, on the social network X, stated that the US claims contradict their own decrees and regulations, citing the decree of January 29 and subsequent US measures as evidence of a “brutal blockade” of fuel supplies to Cuba.
According to him, these measures include threats to impose sanctions against third countries and foreign companies supplying oil to Cuba, as well as hostile actions against oil tankers.
B. Rodriguez added that Washington's policy is aimed at weakening the Cuban economy, hindering its development, depriving it of sources of income, and limiting access to markets and technology.
Cuba faces a severe economic and energy crisis due to decades of US sanctions. The UN says fuel shortages are pushing the country toward a humanitarian crisis.
