TEHRAN, March 28 (Xinhua) — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that its air defenses struck a U.S. F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet and an MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle in southern Iran.
A statement published on the IRGC's official news portal Sepah News said the American fighter jet and drone were shot down during joint retaliatory missile and drone operations carried out by the IRGC's naval and aerospace forces against heavy industries owned by the United States and Israel.
The IRGC added that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) also acknowledged the attack on its F-16 fighter jet.
Earlier, CENTCOM reported on social media that a US Air Force F-16 fighter jet landed at a base in the Middle East after completing a combat mission as part of Operation Epic Fury. –0–
