Vienna, March 28 (Xinhua) – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi warned on Friday that damage to Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant could lead to a major nuclear incident. His statement came after another strike near the Iranian nuclear facility, the third in the past 10 days.
On its social media page, the IAEA reported that Iran had informed the agency of the attack.
According to Iranian authorities, the operating reactor was not damaged, and there were no reports of radiation release. The facility continues to operate normally.
The head of the IAEA expressed deep concern about the recent strikes near a nuclear facility and reiterated his call for maximum restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.
