BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday announced it has launched trade barrier investigations into U.S. actions and measures aimed at disrupting global production and supply chains and hindering trade in green products.

On March 12 Beijing time, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (OTR) opened a Section 301 investigation into China and 15 other economies under the guise of “excess capacity,” which was followed by another Section 301 investigation targeting China and 59 other economies on March 13.

China expressed strong dissatisfaction and strong opposition to the above-mentioned steps, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce said in response to media questions on Friday.

In order to resolutely protect the interests of relevant industries in China, the ministry has launched two investigations in accordance with the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and the Rules for Investigating Barriers to Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Commerce added.

According to the department, it will advance these investigations in accordance with the provisions of the said law and regulations and will take appropriate measures based on the results of the investigations. -0-
