BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin on Thursday criticized Japan's "ulterior motives" in exaggerating so-called external threats.
Jiang Bin thus commented at a regular departmental press conference, at the request of journalists, on the Japanese Prime Minister's recent statement that Japan is facing its most difficult and complex security situation since World War II.
As a country that once inflicted profound suffering on the people of Asia and the world and has yet to truly reconsider its historical crimes of aggression, Japan continues to inflate so-called external threats, Jiang Bin said.
“It is more than obvious that the Japanese administration’s true intention is to divert public attention from domestic problems, mislead the international community, and achieve ‘remilitarization,’” he said.
According to him, Japan is pushing for a revision of three national security documents, is vigorously developing its offensive military potential, and is even voicing its desire to acquire nuclear weapons. These dangerous steps merit the utmost vigilance.
Peace-loving people around the world should unite to resolutely suppress the revival and spread of Japanese "neomilitarism" and firmly uphold regional peace and stability, as well as the security and well-being of the people, the Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman added. -0-
