Capital specialists urban economy complex More than 1,100 monuments will be washed after the fall-winter period. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow. Petr Biryukov.
"After consistently warming temperatures around the clock, we began comprehensive cleanings of more than 1,100 monuments and memorials. We clean each object using a special technology, depending on its material and overall condition," said Pyotr Biryukov.
If necessary, hydraulic lifts and water-sweeping machines will be used to carry out the work.
Titanium monuments are cleaned with a neutral solution, while granite ones are cleaned with special solutions that effectively remove salt stains. All products used are environmentally safe and gentle on the surfaces.
First, workers check the monument for damage or rust. Then, they rinse it with water and apply a foam solution, which is then rinsed off with a strong stream of water after 10 minutes. Finally, the monument is wiped dry.
The structures are regularly washed from April to October. Routine maintenance occurs once a month, but if the monument is heavily soiled, for example due to weather conditions, it is washed more frequently—every two weeks.
