UNITED NATIONS, March 25 (Xinhua) — UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday appointed French diplomat Jean Arnault as his personal envoy to lead the UN's efforts to resolve the Middle East conflict and its aftermath.
According to a notice to correspondents issued by the Office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, J. Arnault has nearly 40 years of experience in international diplomacy with a focus on peace and mediation, as well as extensive experience leading UN missions in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Previously, J. Arnault was the UN Secretary-General's special representative in countries such as Colombia, Afghanistan and Burundi. –0–
