BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) — The National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the country's top 10 scientific achievements for 2025 at the opening ceremony of the annual Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum) held in Beijing on Wednesday.
The top 10 achievements for 2025 included such scientific breakthroughs as the Chang'e-6 sample return, which revealed for the first time the evolutionary history of the far side of the Moon and the consequences of giant impacts; an innovative method that enabled the scalable production of flexible, ultra-flat diamond films; and EAST, a large-scale scientific facility for controlled nuclear fusion, which achieved stable operation at temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius.
According to Dou Xiankang, director of the aforementioned foundation, the annual selection of China's 10 most significant scientific achievements began in 2005. The selection for the country's top 10 scientific achievements for 2025 was based on more than 600 groundbreaking results in basic research.
The 2026 Zhongguancun Forum will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29 under the theme "Deepening Integration of Technological and Industrial Innovation." -0-
