BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepalese President Ram Chandra Paudel exchanged congratulations on Friday on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
China and Nepal are neighboring countries with a long history of friendly exchanges, Xi Jinping noted. No matter how the international and regional situations change, they have always respected each other, treated each other as equals and conducted mutually beneficial cooperation, setting an example of friendly relations between countries of different sizes and social systems, he said.
In recent years, China-Nepal relations have developed in a healthy and stable manner, with political mutual trust becoming increasingly solid, Xi said. Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation in various fields have continued to expand, and the strategic cooperative partnership featuring eternal friendship for the development and prosperity of both sides has been continuously strengthened, he added.
Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Nepal ties and stands ready to work with the Nepalese president to take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to develop traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all fields to benefit the peoples of both countries, and thus contribute to regional peace and development.
In turn, R.C. Paudel emphasized that over the 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have consistently maintained mutual trust, sovereign equality and peaceful coexistence, and their friendship has stood the test of time.
China is Nepal's reliable neighbour and development partner, the president said, expressing gratitude to Beijing for its long-standing support for his country's development and respect for its sovereignty and independence.
Nepal firmly adheres to the one-China principle and looks forward to further deepening cooperation in various sectors and realizing the shared vision of peace, progress and prosperity, added R.C. Paudel. –0–
