BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) — An unusual international sporting event, the 1st China-Russia Fishing Championship, was held recently in Xunke County, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

The competition attracted many amateur fishermen, as reported by the internet portal “chinahlj.cn”. It involved 32 people from China and Russia, as well as 6 Russian children. The participants gathered in Xunke to test their strength in a friendly but intense competition.

The winners were determined after several hours of intense competition. Three participants won bronze medals, two won silver, and the main prize and everyone's attention went to a Chinese fisherman whose catch was 57.6 kg. In addition, to ensure that no one left without a prize, 26 consolation prizes were established.

After the competition, the Russian participants visited the local provincial-level agricultural science and technology park, where they learned about the park's achievements in scientific and technological innovation and industrial development, expressing sincere admiration for Xunke's success.

The successful holding of the first China-Russia Fishing Championship in Xunke has injected new impetus into the development of sports and culture in the county, comprehensively demonstrating the “green” appeal of Xunke as an “ecological recovery area”, and also contributed to the creation of a new iconic cross-border cultural and tourism brand. -0-
