TEHRAN, March 24 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Atti held a phone conversation on Tuesday to discuss the consequences of the US and Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the two sides exchanged views on the regional and international consequences of the "illegal" US-Israeli aggression, emphasizing Iran's right to legitimate self-defense.

A. Araghchi detailed Iran's position on the attacks and called the country's armed forces' response decisive and legitimate. B. Abdel Aty informed his interlocutor of Egypt's consultations with regional and international players aimed at de-escalating tensions in West Asia.

As a reminder, on February 28, the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran. In response, the Islamic Republic and its regional allies launched strikes against Israeli and US interests in the Middle East.
