On March 20, a press conference in honor of the Antarctic Patriotic Sports Swim and a meeting with participants in the historic sporting event, as well as Chinese swimmers, took place at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing.

The swim was organized by the Russian Union of Veterans of Afghanistan and Special Military Operations, the Interregional Association of Cold Water Swimming of Russia, and the International Ice Swimming Association, with the support of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Arctic and Far East.

From February 28 to March 12, 2026, the Antarctic Patriotic Sports Swim took place in the Southern Ocean, near the South Pole. Teams from 10 countries participated in the international event: Russia, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Bulgaria, and Latvia.

The star-studded Russian national team was represented by: Vitaly Kochnev (Komsomolsk-on-Amur), Alexander Brylin (Blagoveshchensk), Victoria Brylina (Blagoveshchensk) and Sergey Logvinov (Gelendzhik).

The Chinese side was represented by the head of the Chinese Ice Swimming Association, Wang Yunfeng, and his colleagues.

Chinese amateur swimmers and winter swimmers were also invited to the meeting at the Russian Cultural Center, where they shared their experiences and achievements.

The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Russian athletes shared their impressions of the unique expedition, while their Chinese colleagues spoke about their experiences participating in international competitions and developing winter swimming in China.

The meeting became a shining example of strengthening friendly ties between Russia and China through sport, mutual respect, and shared values.
