Congratulations from Dmitry Patrushev on the International Day of Forests!
Dear colleagues, dear friends!
Forests are a national treasure for Russia. Our country ranks first in the world in terms of forest area, covering over 1.2 billion hectares. And, of course, this makes a significant contribution to global environmental well-being.
Their preservation and enhancement is a priority of state policy. As part of the federal project "Forest Conservation," forest restoration is carried out annually, forest seed production facilities are being developed, tree nurseries are being established and modernized, and specialized equipment is being purchased.
It is particularly gratifying to note that for five years in a row, the area of forest restoration and afforestation in the Russian Federation has exceeded the rate of forest loss. Consistent efforts to maintain this trend will continue. Specifically, in 2026, the largest areas of restoration are planned in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Arkhangelsk, Vologda, and Irkutsk Oblasts.
Undoubtedly, these achievements are the result of the work of industry specialists. True professionals protect trees from fires, develop new pest control methods, advance forest seed production, and create new green belts. Thank you for your dedicated work and dedication to your profession!
Furthermore, year after year, more and more of our concerned citizens participate in the "Garden of Memory" and "Save the Forest" campaigns. Last year, over 100 million trees were planted across all regions of the country.
The environmental well-being of future generations depends on each of us, on our careful stewardship of the riches of our unique nature. Cherish and protect Russia's forests. Happy holidays!
