BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) — Nine Chinese government departments, including the Ministry of Commerce, have announced a package of policy measures aimed at expanding inbound tourism consumption and stimulating tourism exports, according to a notice released Friday.
The measures focus on various inbound consumption scenarios, such as tourism shopping, business exhibitions and conferences, attendance at sporting events and cultural events, health-related consumption, and education and vocational training.
Key measures include extending visa-free entry to more countries and improving visa-free transit policies. Efforts will be made to increase the number of duty-free shops and provide more convenient payment methods for foreign tourists to improve their overall travel experience.
In addition, the measures include efforts to establish pilot centers for international medical tourism in relevant regions and encourage local authorities to host more sporting events of global significance.
