BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for a stable and secure supply of grain and other agricultural products at a high level to provide strong support for a solid start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
Li Qiang said at a national meeting on spring agricultural production work in Zhoukou, central China's Henan Province, that properly handling work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers and ensuring a bountiful harvest of grain and agricultural products this year is of great significance.
The head of the Chinese government emphasized the need to maintain unwavering focus on ensuring grain production and guaranteeing a stable and secure supply of grain and other agricultural products at a high level. It is essential to enhance the effectiveness of policies to strengthen agriculture, support farmers and improve their livelihoods, and relentlessly promote comprehensive rural development, Li Qiang added.
All regions and departments must resolutely assume responsibility for ensuring national food security, thoroughly organize spring crop care and spring plowing, stabilize grain acreage, strengthen efforts to prevent and minimize the impact of natural disasters in agriculture, and make efforts to achieve another rich harvest of summer grain and oilseed crops.
Vice Premier Liu Guozhong of the State Council of the People's Republic of China attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He noted the need to ensure that the results of the educational campaign to foster and implement a correct attitude toward success in political work are reflected in the development of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers.
Before the meeting, Liu Guozhong visited the cities of Xuchang and Zhoukou in Henan Province, where he inspected the condition of winter wheat crops, the application of technologies to improve yield and efficiency, and the situation with the supply of agricultural materials. –0–
