BANGKOK, March 20 (Xinhua) — King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand has confirmed Anutin Charnvirakul as the country's prime minister. This was announced on Friday by Sirot Patphan, Secretary General of the House of Representatives (lower house) of the National Assembly (parliament).
At a ceremony at the Phumchaithai (Pride of Thailand) Party headquarters, S. Patphan read out a royal decree appointing A. Charnvirakul for a second term as he received a majority of votes in the House of Representatives vote on Thursday.
Royal approval paves the way for the formation of a cabinet and the delivery of a keynote speech to parliament, a procedure required for the formal inauguration of a new government. –0–
