On April 19, the 2026 Beijing Half Marathon will kick off in Yizhuang District, which will also feature a separate race featuring humanoid robots. The first robot test and training run took place on the night of March 14–15. More than 20 development teams participated, each with robots equipped with autonomous navigation systems.
According to a representative of the organizing committee, the route has been significantly updated this year. It includes more challenging urban climbs, sections with hilly terrain, and eco-trails in park areas. The route conditions have become more complex, placing increased demands on the robots' adaptation to various types of terrain and on the movement control algorithms.
