Moscow, March 16 (Xinhua) — The first China-Russia Logistics Business Forum was held on Monday at the Huaming Park business center in Moscow. It brought together representatives of federal and regional Russian government bodies, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the business communities of China and Russia. Forum participants discussed the two countries' partnership in transportation, logistics, and infrastructure construction.

As Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui noted at the opening of the forum, in recent years, Chinese-Russian cooperation in logistics has created more favorable conditions for uninterrupted trade, the development of industrial ties, and the expansion of exchanges between the two countries, which has already yielded significant results. "In 2025, the volume of freight transported on Chinese-Russian railways reached nearly 200 million tonnes, an increase of 6.3 percent compared to the previous year. The total volume of freight transported by road exceeded 6 million tonnes," the diplomat stated, adding that key transport hubs such as Manzhouli (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern China), Suifenhe, and Tongjiang (Heilongjiang Province, northeast China) are demonstrating steady growth, effectively ensuring uninterrupted trade between the two countries.

Arzybek Kozhoshev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, emphasized that amid geopolitical turbulence, global supply chains are undergoing a fundamental transformation, and in the current context of reorienting trade flows, China's global Belt and Road Initiative is more relevant than ever. "I am convinced that the Eurasian Economic Union, thanks to its geographic location and unique transport potential, can serve as a central element of the emerging transport infrastructure," he noted, noting that China is a strategic partner for the EAEU countries and an ally in building a multipolar world where transport and logistics are becoming instruments of stability.

According to Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the situation in the Middle East has exposed the vulnerability of the entire global economy, trade, and logistics due to the arbitrary actions of those fueling the war there. He urged that the conditions of global instability be taken into account in the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China. "We are obliged to take all of this into account. That is why independent payment mechanisms and logistics between our countries, including transit through friendly countries of the EAEU and the CIS, are an excellent example of how this can work," the Russian diplomat stated, adding that the issue of cooperation and trust is becoming paramount.

Gennady Bessonov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Coordinating Transport Conference of the CIS Member States, believes that Russia and China should focus on expanding transport connectivity in their cooperation. "China is our main strategic partner. Trade relations between Russia, China, and the CIS countries will only grow in the next 30, 40, and 50 years. We need to build new logistics routes today that will increase our capabilities and enable China to expand its transit potential, expanding it not only to the CIS countries but also to Arkhangelsk and Murmansk, and to access ports in Europe, North and South America," Bessonov stated.

The forum was organized by the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, the Chinese company Torgmoll, and the logistics operator Eurasian Agrologistics, with the support of the Roscongress Foundation.
