WASHINGTON, March 16 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday he has "demanded" about seven Middle East oil-dependent countries join a coalition to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway through which about 20 percent of the world's oil passes.
"I really demand that these countries come in and start defending their own territory. Because it is their own territory," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, referring to the strait.
D. Trump did not name the countries with which the White House is negotiating. –0–
