Beijing, March 15 (Xinhua) — From March 9 to 13, the "Literature of Pacific Russia" festival took place in Tianjin, northern China, and Dalian, northeastern China's Liaoning Province. Writers, poets, publishers, and literary scholars from China and Russia gathered for an in-depth dialogue on literary creation, translation and publishing, and humanitarian exchanges.
According to the official WeChat account of Tianjin International Studies University (TISU), at the opening ceremony in Tianjin, TISU Vice-Rector Zhu Pengxiao noted that the university has deep traditions in Russian studies and is constantly striving to expand humanitarian exchanges with Russia. He stated that the current literary festival creates a new platform for dialogue between literary figures from both countries and will actively promote mutual understanding and friendship between young scholars and students.
According to a post on the official WeChat account of Dalian University of Foreign Studies (DUL), at the event in Dalian, DUL Rector Cong Mingcai emphasized the unique role of literature in promoting mutual understanding between peoples. He noted that holding this event is an important practical step for the university to promote Chinese-Russian cultural exchanges and support openness and cooperation in the Northeast Asian region.
Students from TUIL recited classic poetry passages from Alexander Pushkin and Sergei Yesenin in Russian with passion, demonstrating a strong command of the language and a deep understanding of Russian literature. At DUIL, Russian writers visited classrooms and studios, where they interacted directly with Chinese teachers and students, sharing experiences and ideas. The atmosphere was lively and energetic.
Participants from both sides noted that literature is a link between different civilizations. The successful holding of the "Literature of Pacific Russia" festival in China not only created a new platform for exchange and cooperation between the literary circles of the two countries but will also promote further bilateral translation and in-depth dialogue through Northeast Asian literary works, making a continuous cultural contribution to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
