Moscow, March 13 (Xinhua) – Seven people died from carbon monoxide poisoning in Russia's Penza region, and a criminal case has been opened. The Russian Investigative Committee press service reported this on Friday.

The bodies were discovered on March 13 in an apartment building in the village of Zarechnaya in the Mokshansky District. An examination revealed no injuries. Preliminary reports indicate the cause of the accident was gas equipment. Forensic examinations have been ordered.

A criminal case has been opened for causing death by negligence. The technical condition of the gas equipment in the residential premises, as well as the conditions of its operation and maintenance, will be investigated. –0–
