Construction of a new section of the Moscow Metro's Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line continues. The section from Shchelkovskaya to Golyanovo stations is scheduled to open in 2028, Sergei Sobyanin announced.
"Golyanovo is a large district of Moscow, with a population of 160,000. We are paying close attention to its development, as we do to other districts in the city. The renovation of outpatient clinics has been completed, schools are undergoing extensive renovation, we are improving roads, parks, and courtyards, and we are working on developing the street and road network. And at the request of residents, another metro station is being built here, scheduled to open in 2028," said the Moscow Mayor.
According to him, active work is currently underway to lay tunnels and construction of the station itself has already begun.
"I believe that by 2028, residents of the district will receive a new station, the Shchelkovskaya metro station will be relieved, and overall transportation accessibility for local residents will improve," noted Sergei Sobyanin.
Along with the construction of the Dostoyevskaya metro station on the Circle Line, the second stage of the Troitskaya Line, and the Biryulevsky and Rublevo-Arkhangelsky radii, the extension of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line is a priority project in the Moscow transportation development program. A total of 20 new stations are currently under construction, with another 11 in the design phase. Nine tunnel boring machines are simultaneously excavating the tunnels, allowing for a rapid pace of work.
Golyanovo metro station
The new section of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line will be 2.6 kilometers long. The Golyanovo terminal station will be located along Ussuriyskaya Street at the intersection with Sakhalinskaya and Khabarovskaya Streets. It is designed with an island platform and two underground vestibules with exits on either side of Ussuriyskaya Street.
"The extension of this line is one of the capital's priority transport projects. Residents of Golyanovo have long been waiting for the metro to come to the area. The new station will cut commuting time in half," the Moscow Mayor noted on his channel.

The design of the new station is planned to be space-themed, as Golyanovo is home to the large research and production enterprise Geofizika-Kosmos. A company with a history dating back to the 19th century (employing approximately 1,000 people), it develops and manufactures optical-electronic orientation and navigation devices for various spacecraft and produces navigation systems for spacecraft. High-quality Russian metal will be used as the main finishing material for the station. The vestibules will be designed in a futuristic style with clear geometric shapes and will be made as comfortable as possible for passengers.
The station will be adapted for people with limited mobility and will feature all the usual services: modern navigation and the latest turnstiles and ticket vending machines manufactured in the capital.
Currently, specialists are erecting the station complex's enclosing structures, excavating the ground, and installing the main monolithic structures. Construction of the connecting tunnels between the Shchelkovskaya and Golyanovo stations is in the active phase: the left tunnel is 52 percent complete, and the right tunnel is six percent complete. Completion is scheduled for the fall of 2026.
Overall, the construction readiness of the Shchelkovskaya – Golyanovo section is 9.5 percent.
The new Golyanovo station is estimated to handle approximately 30,000 passengers per day. Following its opening, Golyanovo residents will be able to spend half the time commuting. Travel time to the Big Circle Line (BKL) will be reduced by almost half (from 40 to 25 minutes), and to the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) by 1.5 times (from 30 to 20 minutes). The load at Shchelkovskaya metro station will be reduced by 30 percent.
In anticipation of the new station's opening, ground transportation routes and service intervals in the Golyanovo area will be adjusted to reduce feeder routes and provide convenient access to the metro.
The Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line, over 45 kilometers long and with 22 stations, is one of the longest radial lines in the Moscow Metro. It connects 14 districts with a combined population of 1.5 million. Over 750,000 passengers use the line daily. The minimum headway during rush hour is one minute and 45 seconds.

Reconstruction of the school on Altayskaya Street
Additionally, reconstruction of School No. 1516 is ongoing in Golyanovo. The educational institution, located at 10a Altayskaya Street, was built in 1988. Complete renovation of the building began in May 2025. During the renovation, specialists will renovate the façade, replace utility lines, door and window frames, install partitions, lay floor screeds, and complete interior finishing. Modern equipment and furniture will be installed in the building. The surrounding area will also be landscaped.
The renovation focuses on creating a modern educational environment for children and teachers. In accordance with the "My School" program, the renovated building will feature:
— universal and specialized classrooms;
— educational spaces with sliding transformable partitions for classes in large and small groups;
— a modern media library with areas for group and individual work;
— laboratory and research complex for the study of natural sciences;
— a multifunctional, multi-light space for events, lectures and exhibitions;
– sports halls and a cozy dining room.
The school building's interior color scheme will be muted, with accents in the form of acoustic panels, brightly colored furniture, and design elements.
The sports core on the school grounds will include a running track, a gymnastics court, and a multi-purpose court for active ball games. Additionally, there will be play areas for different age groups, quiet relaxation areas, and bicycle and scooter parking.
"Thus, the school will be provided with the most modern educational conditions. As before the renovation, it will accommodate students in grades one through nine. A total of 825 children," the Moscow Mayor announced on his channel.

The renovated building of School No. 1516 on Altayskaya Street is scheduled to open its doors on September 1, 2026.
The educational institution plans to implement the city-based projects "Mathematical Vertical" and "Natural Science Vertical." Students will also have more opportunities for additional education in various fields.
New building on Amurskaya Street
The district's renovation program continues to be implemented. A monolithic residential complex on Amurskaya Street has been built for its participants. It was constructed using a custom design and comprises three buildings.
"The residential complex on Amurskaya Street, built under the renovation program, is ready. It's conveniently located: close to the Cherkizovskaya metro station, the Lokomotiv Moscow Central Circle station, the Vostochny railway station, the Sirenevy Sad park, schools, kindergartens, clinics, shopping centers and stores, sports clubs, and cafes," Sergei Sobyanin explained on his channel.

The building contains 786 apartments with a total floor area of 42,600 square meters. The improved finishes of the apartments and common areas comply with Moscow renovation standards.
Six apartments in the new building are equipped for people with disabilities—hallways and doorways have been widened, and special grab bars are provided in the bathrooms and toilets.
The area adjacent to the residential complex includes three children's playgrounds, three sports grounds, and areas for quiet relaxation.
In the near future, 631 families will move into the new building – 1,480 residents of seven houses on Amurskaya Street (houses 48, 64, 66, 68, 70) and Shchelkovskoye Highway (house 57, buildings 2 and 3).
In the Golyanovo district of eastern Moscow, 101 residential buildings are included in the renovation program. 25,300 residents will be relocated to new apartments. Currently, 32 buildings have been resettled or are in the process of being resettled. Six new residential complexes have been built and are ready for occupancy.
