Astana, March 10 (Xinhua) — One person was killed and another was injured in a seven-vehicle accident during a snowstorm on the Astana-Karaganda highway in Kazakhstan, the Kazinform news agency reported on Tuesday.
The accident occurred on Tuesday around 11:00 a.m. local time on a section of highway heading toward Karaganda. According to police, seven vehicles collided. The driver of the Toyota SUV died at the scene, and another driver was taken to the hospital with injuries.
According to preliminary information, the accident was caused by adverse weather conditions, including ground snow, strong winds, and near-zero visibility. An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is currently underway.
