Specialists from Rosneft's Tyumen Research Institute have created a unique seismic facies model of the Russkoye field, which will allow for more accurate determination of oil-bearing zones during well drilling.
Extensive work to develop the model included studies of sedimentation conditions, wave field characteristics based on seismic data, and well data analysis. The model was tested in 90 wells and confirmed its high effectiveness.
This innovation provides a more detailed understanding of the geological structure of the subsurface. The model has doubled the accuracy of reservoir top location and increased the accuracy of oil-saturated thickness by a third. Implementing the model into the drilling support strategy will allow the Company to increase well potential and improve the economics of the project to develop Russia's largest high-viscosity oil field.
